Despite the COVID-19 outbreak, the 2021-22 edition of the Big Bash League has continued to entertain the fans in Australia. Earlier today, fans witnessed the 32nd match of BBL between the Adelaide Strikers and Sydney Thunder. Sydney Thunder started as the favorites to win the match because they had a stronger squad. Also the match happened at their home venue – Sydney Showground Stadium. Pakistan’s pace bowler Mohammad Hasnain made his Big Bash League debut in the match.
Home team Sydney Thunder won the bat flip and elected to bat first at home. Matthew Gilkes opened the batting with all-rounder Ben Cutting. The opening duo provided a fine start to the home side, adding 64 runs for the first wicket in 7.3 overs. Wes Agar broke the partnership by picking up the wicket of Cutting, but Gilkes held one end and remained in the middle till the final over.
The opening batter played a fantastic knock of 93 runs off just 57 balls, a knock where he smashed nine fours and three sixes while batting at a strike rate of 163. None of the other batters could support Gilkes much, but Sydney Thunder finished with 172/7 in 20 overs. Wes was the best bowler for Adelaide Strikers. He returned with figures of 3/26 in his four-over spell.
Mohammad Hasnain blew away the Adelaide Strikers in the 2nd innings
Chasing 173 to win, Adelaide Strikers needed a good start with the bat. However, debutant Mohammad Hasnain wreaked havoc at the Sydney Showground Stadium. He started his BBL career with a triple wicket maiden. Hasnain accounted for the wickets of opening batters Jake Weatherald and Matthew Short along with number four batter Jonathan Wells.
