The Delhi Capitals lost the wicket of Mandeep Singh in the first over itself, but Warner held one end and ensured that the Capitals posted a formidable total on the board. DC scored 207/3 in 20 overs, riding on fifties from David and Rovman Powell.

In reply, SRH finished with 186/8 in 20 overs. Nicholas Pooran top-scored for the Hyderabad-based franchise with a fighting fifty, while the likes of Kane Williamson and Abhishek Sharma lost their wickets cheaply. Speaking after the match, Kane Williamson said:

“They had a fantastic total. Having said that, as a batting unit you always want that belief. That was there. It’s a pretty small ground and there was a little bit of dew. If he had a couple of wickets in hand, who knows. For us, it’s a matter of going back to the drawing board a little bit, keeping things really simple.”
