The 50th game of IPL 2022 saw the Delhi Capitals defeat the Sunrisers Hyderabad to register their fifth win of the competition. David Warner won the Man of the Match award for his 92-run knock in the first innings, while Kuldeep Yadav finished the match off in style by bowling a good last over for Delhi Capitals. Kartik Tyagi impressed on his SRH debut.

Speaking about the match first, SRH skipper Kane Williamson won the toss and opted to field first. The Delhi Capitals lost the wicket of Mandeep Singh in the first over itself, but Warner held one end and ensured that the Capitals posted a formidable total on the board. DC scored 207/3 in 20 overs, riding on fifties from David and Rovman Powell.

In reply, SRH finished with 186/8 in 20 overs. Nicholas Pooran top-scored for the Hyderabad-based franchise with a fighting fifty, while the likes of Kane Williamson and Abhishek Sharma lost their wickets cheaply. Speaking after the match, Kane Williamson said:

“They had a fantastic total. Having said that, as a batting unit you always want that belief. That was there. It’s a pretty small ground and there was a little bit of dew. If he had a couple of wickets in hand, who knows. For us, it’s a matter of going back to the drawing board a little bit, keeping things really simple.”
