After a gap of 9 years, after being a hero for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Australian opening batsman David Warner is back once again in a Delhi franchise’s jersey, when he took to the pitch against Lucknow Super Giants.
Match number 15 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season is being played between Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals in Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium.
It was the end of the long wait for Delhi fans as former Aussie skipper and opening batsman David Warner took to the pitch in Delhi Capitals’ colour.
However, it was not a merry start for the left-hand batsman, who could not channel his T20I batsman and struggled to score runs. He could only score 4 runs from 12 balls with a strike rate of just 33.33. Things you don’t really see from David Warner.
It must be noted that the Aussie batsman is coming to India after playing Test series against Pakistan in March. And the fans in Twitter were quite surprised with Warner’s performance today. Here’s how they reacted.

Absolutely dominating innings by @PrithviShaw, rare to see @davidwarner31 being left so behind in a partnership. #IPL #DCvsLSG #LSGvDC

Not a good performance by David Warner … Had huge expectations from him… But definitely better performance by him of 4 runs off 12 balls than Rohit’s 3 runs off 12 balls… Hoping for both of them to comeback stronger in next match ♥️ #IPL2022
