“There’s not big difference between him and MS Dhoni”- Moeen Ali backs the Indian allrounder to captain in future

After the disappointing season for CSK in IPL 2022. CSK star all rounder Moeen Ali who played a vital role for CSK in IPL 2021 success story has backed Ravindra Jadeja saying he has the capability to lead the side in the future. Ravindra Jadeja gave up his CSK captaincy in the middle of the season to concentrate on his batting and contribute in better way to the team. MS Dhoni accepted his request and became the captain of CSK once again. But the team lost momentum and failed to qualify for playoffs for the second time in 14 years of this competition.

Then MS Dhoni in a post presentation said that Jadeja as a player is needed for CSK than as a captain for CSK. But CSK star all rounder Moeen Ali backed Jadeja and said his ideas will come good in future and there is not much difference between him and MS Dhoni.

Moeen said, “Jadeja is inexperienced in terms of captaincy and leading CSK was tough for him this year” and they were unable to gel as a team. He concluded by saying, “I have played under him. I have played under MS Dhoni as well. There is not any big difference between both of them in terms of the characteristics”. He said both of them are very loyal to their players and they themselves are brilliant players.

At the start of the IPL 2022, many CSK fans had the same doubts whether Jadeja can fill in the boots of MS Dhoni. Many are not happy with CSK management since they announced Jadeja will captain the side only a week to the start of the tournament. But MS Dhoni cleared in a post match by saying within themself they already know that Jadeja will be captaining the side.

Next year who will be captaining the side is a million dollar question. But MS Dhoni may play his last season as a captain or CSK should look to buy a captain in the mini auction. Ben Stokes will be better option. There are not many Indian options apart from Ravindra Jadeja and Ruturaj Gaikwad in the CSK squad. Maybe Ruturaj will be a better option in a few years time, not now.
