Sanju Samson led the Rajasthan Royals to another win in IPL 2022 last night at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium. It was his first win as RR captain against the Royal Challengers Bangalore team. Playing against RCB at the MCA Stadium, Samson made some great captaincy moves and decided to give the last over to Kuldeep Sen when he had someone like Trent Boult available.

In the previous IPL season, Sanju Samson was slightly unlucky because a majority of the star foreign players from the Rajasthan Royals squad made themselves unavailable to play or were injured. Hence, fans could not witness how Samson performs as a captain with a full-strength squad available.

This time, Sanju has a very strong squad, and he has made great use of the resources he has. In the match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Samson’s team managed to defend 144 runs. Uncapped bowler Kuldeep Sen stole the show with a four-wicket haul, while experienced off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin bagged a three-wicket haul.

Speaking with the host broadcasters after the match, RR captain Samson said:

“It was a pleasing win, especially after the start we were off to. The entire team and the support staff has always backed Riyan Parag and today he showed why. I think we were 10-15 runs short on this surface. I think we were waiting for a match where the lower order would step up.”

Kuldeep Sen was the game-changer for the Rajasthan Royals. Making his comeback to the playing XI, the uncapped Indian pacer picked up the wickets of Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell off successive deliveries. He then dismissed the dangerous Wanindu Hasaranga and big-hitter Harshal Patel to complete his four-wicket haul.
