While Hardik has never captained in the IPL before, the Ahmedabad IPL team’s mentor Gary Kirsten is confident that he will lead the team to glory. He appreciated his leadership skills in a recent interview with Star Sports. Kirsten expects Pandya to shine in IPL 2022 because he believes that the all-rounder has got a lot of motivation.

Before signing with the Ahmedabad-based IPL franchise, Hardik Pandya played for the Mumbai Indians team in the Indian Premier League. The all-rounder went unsold in 2014 but got a contract at base price in 2015. After that season, the Mumbai Indians always retained him. Soon after, Hardik became one of the top all-rounders in the world. Mumbai Indians offered him a massive contract ahead of the 2018 mega auction.

Unfortunately, Pandya has injury issues now which do not allow him to play to his full potential. The all-rounder has asked for some time off from the selection committee so that he can work on his fitness and get back to the field in his previous form.

He’s a great leader, a high performer, and he’s really motivated: Gary Kirsten on Hardik Pandya

Gary Kirsten spoke to Star Sports on the Selection Day special episode, where he heaped praise on the Ahmedabad team’s captain. Here’s what Kirsten had to say:

“He’s a great leader, a high performer, and he’s really motivated. What I’ve heard is that he is keen to get in the mix. What I’ve heard, he’s raring to go and get in the mix from a leadership perspective. That’s very exciting for us to have a player with such a level of skill, motivated to do well.”
