In a disappointing development for Islamabad United fans, the team’s fast bowler Reece Topley has pulled out of Pakistan Super League 2022. Many fans thought the left-arm pacer would join the Islamabad United franchise after the culmination of the England vs. West Indies T20I series. Topley is a part of the England cricket squad for the ongoing series.
However, according to reports in local media, Topley will not take a flight to Pakistan. A tweet by journalist Fatima Mohsin confirmed the development. The report claims that Waqas Maqsood has replaced Reece in the Islamabad United squad.
“Reece Topley will be unavailable for the entire HBL Pakistan Super League 2022, Islamabad United has replaced him with Waqas Maqsood,” the tweet reads.

Reece Topley is one of the top T20 stars in the world right now. He has played three matches for the England cricket team in the ongoing T20I series against the West Indies cricket team. The left-arm fast bowler has bagged a wicket each in all three matches that he has played.
Islamabad United will miss the services of Reece Topley
Reece Topley is a white-ball specialist, having the experience of playing 103 T20 matches. He recently turned up for the Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League and took a three-wicket haul in his last match. It will be interesting to see how his replacement performs for Islamabad United.
Some fans are surprised by this decision because the PSL rules allow a franchise to pick an overseas replacement for an overseas player. However, the Islamabad United team management has went with Waqas Maqsood. Islamabad will be in action tonight in Match 5 of PSL 2022 against Peshawar Zalmi.
