PCB announce list of PSL 2022 Match Referees, Match Umpires

Pakistan’s elite T20 League, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022 edition is set to kick-off from the 27th January, and today, on the 18th of January, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the full list of match officials.

Pakistan Super League (PSL) is Pakistan’s one of the most prestigious T20 league and among some of the top league around the world. Pakistan’s top teams and players compete in this league, like any other league.

Much like other league, the Pakistan Super League was also hit with the COVID-19 last edition, as a result of which, even though the tournament began in February, it was rescheduled to June in UAE after only 14 matches.

But this time, the Pakistan Cricket Board plans to hold the complete tournament on schedule and entirely in Pakistan. Today, the PCB announced the match officials list.

ICC Panel’s match referee Ranjan Madugalle is one of the most notable name among the match officials. This will be his first season in the PSL.

Ranjan Madugalle is one of the most experienced ICC match referee, having officiated in 125 T20 International matches, 201 Test matches and 370 One Day International (ODI) matches.

Along with him, Roshan Mahanama, Ali Naqvi, Mohammad Javed Malik, Iftikhar Ahmed are also the match officials to complete a 5 man list.

PCB has also named a list of 12 match umpires, among whom, the most notable are, Aleem Dar, Michael Gough and Richard Illingworth.

Other than them, the 9 other match umpires are, Ahsan Raza, Asif Yaqoob, Faisal Khan Afridi, Imtiaz Iqbal, Imran Jawed, Nasir Hussain, Rashid Riaz, Shozab Raza and Waleed Yaqub

The PSL will not be played in normal home and away basis, but instead, will be played in centralised venue in Karachi and Lahore.

The matches in Karachi will be played from 27th January till the 7th February, while the Lahore leg will begin from 10th February. A total of 30 league matches will be played, other than 1 Qualifier, 2 Eliminator and the Grand Final on the 27th February, in Lahore.
