The 50th game of the Indian Premier League saw a high-voltage clash between Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. In the end, it was David Warner and his men that dominated the game, registered a 7-wicket win over RCB, and collected two important points.
It started with RCB winning the toss and deciding to bat first. RCB started well with an 82-run partnership for the first wicket between Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis. The RCB skipper got out after scoring 45 off 32.
Virat Kohli carried on his form and scored his sixth half century of the IPL 2023. He scored 55 runs from 46 balls with five boundaries. Mahipal Lomror scored his maiden IPL 50 and remained unbeaten on 54 off 29 balls with six boundaries and three maximums.
RCB scored 181/4 in the first inning. Chasing the target, Delhi also had a decent start with a 60-run partnership for the first wicket. Warner was the first wicket to fall, making a 14-ball 22 with three fours and one six. Notably, with this, Warner has surpassed MS Dhoni to score the most runs against RCB in the final.
Dhoni has scored 839 runs against RCB in 31 innings at an average of 41.90, while Warner has now scored 861 runs in just 22 innings at an average of 43.05. MI skipper Rohit Sharma has played 29 innings and scored 785 runs at 40.19, while Rayudu is fourth with 714 runs in 24 innings.
Speaking of the game, opener Philip Salt was the star with 87 off 45 balls, including eight fours and six maximus. Mitchell Marsh (26 off 17) and Rilee Rossouw (35* off 22) also played two good cameos to help DC register a thrashing win with 20 balls to spare.
