There are many star cricketers who have been entertaining the cricket universe across the world with their magnificent skills. Because of their talent, cricket has become a very big sport now. The International Cricket Council has tried its best to take the sport to newer countries.


However, not all star cricketers have a career that they dreamt of having. Some of them went on to call it a day on their careers after becoming legends, but there have been some star cricketers who retired from the international arena earlier than expected. Here’s a list of seven such players.

1. Isuru Udana (Age 33)

Isuru Udana is a left-arm fast bowler who plays for the Sri Lankan cricket team. In IPL 2020, Udana played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore.


Many fans considered Udana as one of the top cricketers in Sri Lanka. However, he shockingly announced his retirement from international cricket on July 31, 2021.

2. Thisara Perera (Age 32)

Thisara Perera is another star all-rounder from the Sri Lankan cricket team to feature on this list. Perera is one of the few players who played for both CSK and MI.

The Sri Lankan star performed well in international matches as well. But due to unknown reasons, Perera decided to retire from international arena on May 3, 2021.


3. One of the star cricketers from Pakistan – Mohammad Amir (Age 28)

Mohammad Amir is a left-arm fast bowler. He played international cricket for the Pakistan team, but due to issues with team management, he quit.

Amir stated in his interviews that the backroom staff could not manage him properly. As a result, he announced his retirement on December 17, 2020.

4. One of the star cricketers from India – Suresh Raina (Age 33)

Suresh Raina was a member of the Indian squad that won the 2011 World Cup. He played some crucial innings for the country in the middle-order.

Raina also changed the game with his bowling and fielding skills on some occasions. Unfortunately, he decided to end his career on August 15, 2020.

5. One of the star cricketers from South Africa – AB de Villiers (Age 34)

AB de Villiers shocked the entire world when he decided to retire from international cricket in May 2018. Many felt he would play 2019 World Cup.

However, he retired because he thought he did not have any fuel left in his tank. The South African star still regularly plays for RCB in the IPL.

6. Duanne Olivier (Age 26)

Many South African cricketers have announced retirement to sign Kolpak Deal in county cricket. Fast bowler Duanne Olivier is one of those players.

Olivier performed well in his few international appearances for the Proteas. However, he decided to end his international career and join Yorkshire on a Kolpak deal.

7. One of the star cricketers from India – Irfan Pathan (Age 34)

Irfan Pathan is the third left-arm fast bowler to appear on this list. Pathan was one of the top all-rounders in the country during his prime.

However, the Indian fast bowler’s career derailed due to injury issues. On January 4, 2020, he announced his retirement from international cricket. Pathan later played in Road Safety World Series and Lanka Premier League.
