Dimuth Karunaratne led Sri Lanka managed a 10 wickets win in the 2nd Test match of the 2 match series against Bangladesh to secure a 1-0 series win after the match ended in a draw. As a result, there has been some changes in the ladder board of the World Test Championship 2021-2023.

The Sri Lankan team toured Bangladesh for a 2 match Test series as part of the ongoing edition of the World Test Championship 2021-2023 cycle. While the first match ended in a draw, Sri Lanka won the 2nd match to win the series.

It was the Bangladesh skipper Mominul Haque who won the toss in Dhaka’s Shere Bangla National Stadium and opted to bat first.

The Bangla Tigers posted a total of 365 runs, thanks to hundreds from Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das, who both scored 175 runs and 141 runs respectively. Kasun Rajitha took 5 wickets while Asitha Fernando bagged 4.

Sri Lanka took the first inning lead in the match, thanks to centuries from Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal as the Lankan Lions scored 506 runs, taking a lead of 141 runs.

Bangladesh could only score 169 runs in their 2nd inning. The whole of the batting order struggled to stay on the crease. Liton Das and Shakib Al Hasan scored fifties, but, not enough to put up a fight. Asitha Fernando got 6 wickets in this inning.

With that, Bangladesh set a small target of 29 runs for Sri Lanka, which they easily chased down in 3 overs to win the match by 10 wickets. With that, they also won the series 1-0.

After that win, there has been some changes in the ICC World Test Championship Points Table. Sri Lanka have now jumped past Pakistan to 4th in the points table with 40 points and a percentage of 55.56. Whereas, Bangladesh continues at the hanging lower down the order in 8th place, just ahead of England.
