The Mumbai based franchise Mumbai Indians is having a terrible season in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, losing all 8 of their opening matches of the competition. Meanwhile, they have named Kumar Kartikeya as replacement player for Arshad Khan.
With the team completely out of form, Mumbai Indians have included Madhya Pradesh spin bowler Kumar Kartikeya in place of injured left-arm fast bowler Arshad Khan.
Arshad Khan has been ruled out of the IPL 2022 due to injury. Arshad has not played a single match in the IPL yet. The young pacer has played only 3 List-A cricket matches. Kartikeya was bought by Mumbai Indians for his base price of Rs 20 lakhs.
Mumbai have included Kumar Kartikeya in the team for the same price as Arshad was bought for. Now it remains to be seen whether the team will give Kartikeya a chance in the remaining matches or not. However, Hrithik Shokeen did well in his first match and it will be a bit difficult for Kartikeya to make it to the playing 11.
Talking about the records, Kumar Kartikeya has played in 9 first-class games and 19 List-A games in which he has taken 35 and 18 wickets respectively in his domestic career. Not only this, in the 2021-22 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he took 5 wickets in 5 matches at an average of 5.05.
Kartikeya represents Madhya Pradesh in the domestic cricket. He made his domestic cricket debut in the year 2018.

Mumbai Indians have now become the first team to be knocked out of the playoff race after 8 losses in 8 matches. Five-time champions Mumbai Indians’ performance this year has been quite mediocre.
The form of Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Kieran Pollard has been under big question mark. Apart from this, the weakness of the team has also been clearly seen in the bowling department.
Mumbai Indians have number of young prospects in their, starting from South Africa’s Dewald Brevis and India’s Tilak Verma. Mumbai will nect play against Rajasthan Royals at the Dr DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai on 1st May.
