The first match of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 super-12 round match between Australia and New Zealand has ended where the latter team walked out victorious with a thumping win over the Kangaroos.
The 1st match of the Group 1 of the super-12 round was played between hosts and defending champions Australia and New Zealand at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney.
Batting first, Finn Allen and Devon Conway gave New Zealand a flying start where the former was dismissed for 42 runs from 16 balls while the latter missed on his century by 8 runs and guided New Zealand to a total of 200 runs.
Chasing that, Kangaroos got off a bad start as they lost both openers David Warner and Aaron Finch along with Mitchell Marsh in the powerplay itself.
Australia failed to get a partnership going and were bundled out for just 111 runs, losing by 89 runs, what is their biggest ever defeat in T20I cricket.
