In the fourth Test of the ongoing series between India and England, the visitors are yet again looking at a mountainous task in the second innings. After the loss at Leeds, many opined that R Ashwin must be included in the XI. However, the world’s best spinner missed the game, making it the fourth continuous match without him. India’s prospects do not look encouraging in the fourth Test
It was the batting failure that yet again has put India on the backfoot. If not for the late heroics by Shardul Thakur, Team India’s first innings score would have been lesser than the 191 runs that they eventually managed to post.
Although the bowlers started well, England’s middle-order stepped up, and India is yet again looking at overcoming a sizeable lead. Umesh Yadav and Shardul Thakur have done decently well in the game, so far, but the question of R Ashwin’s exclusion is still baffling many.

One of the main reasons why R Ashwin has not been included is because he is not being considered a reliable batsman by the management. Ravindra Jadeja is being preferred instead. Ahead of that knock, Ashwin was actually struggling with an injury. Despite that, he did extremely well to help India save the game. However, within just a year, Ashwin’s batting capabilities seem to have been forgotten. This has been one of the matters of discussion that are ongoing at the moment.
