Match number 9 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 ended in favour of Rajasthan Royals as they secured a 23 runs win in a close encounter against Mumbai Indians.
Rajasthan Royals took on Mumbai Indians in their 2nd match of the season in a bid to top of IPL 2022 points table. Before tonight, Rajasthan had already had a win to their name, while Mumbai suffered a defeat in their previous match.
After winning the toss, Rohit Sharma asked Rajasthan to bat first, however, things didn’t go their way as Jos Buttler hit a scintillating Hundred to ruin Mumbai’s day.
Rajasthan was at one point looking good to go past 200, but was eventually restricted to 193 runs. While chasing 194 runs, Mumbai lost 2 wickets in the powerplay, but still scored at good run rate.
However, it turned to a downfall for Mumbai after Ishan Kishan departed in the 13th over after scoring 54 runs. And from being 2 wickets down for 121 runs before Ishan’s wicket, they were reduced to 6 wickets for 136 runs. At the end, they barely reached 170 runs in their 20 overs, giving Rajasthan a 23 runs win.
Twitter went mad after the most successful team in the history of the IPL lost 2 back-to-back matches in the IPL 2022. Here’s how things went.
Mumbai Indians are beginning to look extremely dangerous now. They’ve lost their first two matches in a row.

This can’t be good news for their opponents.
Rohit and Polly are no more match winners for Mumbai Indians. They just have 1 or 2 good games in whole season. #IPL #RohitSharma #mumbai_indians

So I spent nearly 6000-7000 Rs for tickets, travel & food just to end up seeing Mumbai Indians lose the first two games π
