He has also lauded the white-ball skipper Eoin Morgan for the transmission he has brought to English cricket. The former skipper also spoke on the way Morgan has made realise the value of the IPL for English cricket. Notably, in the early seasons of the IPL, not many English players were keen on participating in the marquee league.

But now, there are many English superstars who are part of the IPL. Kevin Pietersen and Andrew Flintoff were among the first players to play in the IPL from England. Nasser wrote in his column for the Daily Mail and said that Morgan is the prime reason behind the success of a few players.

The 54-year-old said that Morgan was ahead of his time like Kevin Pietersen. He wrote, “He was also ahead of his time in realizing the value to English cricket of the IPL. First, he helped make better players of the likes of Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow, Jason Roy and Liam Livingstone. Then he encouraged them to play in the IPL, where they learned to be even better.”

Nasser also highlighted the way the English skipper remains cool and calm in taking his on-field decisions. He highlighted the incident from the 2019 ODI World Cup, where Morgan talked to Jofra Archer and gave him the super over to bowl. The 54-year-old also said that the biggest quality of Morgan is that he always learns from his mistakes.

As per some media reports, the English skipper is likely to announce his retirement on Tuesday. One of the reasons for his retirement is his bad form and fitness. He registered two ducks in two games against the Netherlands. Nasser Hussain also added that if Morgan takes retirement, Jos Buttler will be the ideal candidate and will take England forward.
