Indian cricket team is one of the most successful team in the history of the T20 World Cup. The Men in Blue won the inaugural edition of the competition in the year 2007 under the new leadership of MS Dhoni and completely new looked team.

While they may not have won any more T20 World Cup trophies till date other than the first India, Team India has reached the semi-final of the competition the most times while they suffered a defeat in the final of the 2014 T20 World Cup against Sri Lanka.


India have become a powerhouse in the cricketing world. With the presence of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Team India have no less options available at their. And with the huge depth that is available, every players are currently playing to find a place in the team.

Team India have had numerous heroes in their T20 World Cup campaign who have helped the team to glory in the given opportunity. However, there have been some players who were part of the T20 World Cup squad, but, most likely a lot of them don’t even know. Manoj Tiwary

Many may not know that the then 26-years-old Bengal cricketer Manoj Tiwary was part of the Indian cricket team’s squad in the T20 World Cup 2012. However, Tiwary didn’t get an opportunity to play in the tournament as Team India had to bow out of the competition in the Super Eight phase of the competition, which was eventually won by West Indies.


Pawan Negi

T20 specialist all-rounder Pawan Negi was part of the Indian team’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2016 played in India, but may doesn’t know that. Negi was really impressive in the IPL during those days while playing for the Chennai Super Kings. As a result of his performance in the IPL, he was selected into the Indian team squad for the Asia Cup, where he only played a solitary match.

However, surprisingly he was also picked into the Indian team squad for the T20 World Cup 2016, but didn’t feature in any match. You would shocked to know that as of today in 2022, Negi has played only the solitary match in India’s colour in the Asia Cup.

Varun Aaron

Now a veteran, pace bowler Varun Aaron was a shocking inclusion into the Indian team’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2014 played in Sri Lanka. Varun possessed some serious pace at that time and had only made his return from injury. He was called up to the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2014 but didn’t feature in any match of the tournament which Team India lost in the final against Sri Lanka.

Ashok Dinda

Ashok Dinda was a well known pace bowler for the Indian cricket team. But, his performance and appearance for the Indian team was so little in the T20 World Cup 2012 that very little amount of people know that he was a part of the T20 World Cup 2012.

He featured in just only 1 match in the competition, that too against the England team where India registered a huge 90 runs win. Chasing a target of 171 runs, England were all-out for just 80 runs. Dinda took 2 wickets in the match, but gave away 26 runs from his 2 overs. He didn’t beyond that in the competition.
