Today marks the 14th anniversary of the Indian men’s cricket team’s historic ICC T20 World Cup 2007 victory that happened on South African soil. Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh was an important part of that competition. He played an integral role in the success of the Indian cricket team. Another T20 specialist participating and representing England was Kevin Pietersen.
Whenever one talks about batting in the shortest format of the game, Yuvraj Singh and Kevin Pietersen are two of the batters that come to the mind first. While Pietersen played some excellent knocks for the England cricket team, Yuvraj changed the game for the Indian cricket team on multiple occasions with batting, bowling as well as fielding abilities.
Singh and Pietersen were head-to-head in the Super 8 stage of the ICC T20 World Cup 2007, where the Indian cricket team locked horns with the England cricket team. The Indian cricket team had lost their first Super 8 match to the New Zealand cricket team. Meanwhile, the England cricket team suffered a defeat against the South African cricket team in their first Super 8 match.
It was a do-or-die match for the Indian cricket team and the England cricket team. And, a special knock from Yuvraj Singh, where he smashed six sixes in an over bowled by Stuart Broad ensured that the England cricket team suffered its second consecutive defeat in the Super 8 stage.
14 years later, Yuvraj Singh and Kevin Pietersen engage in a banter on Instagram
14 years have past since that tournament where both Yurvaj Singh and Kevin Pietersen, but they recently had a funny exchange on social media. Singh posted a photo of himself sitting on a Rolls Royce. This surprised Pietersen as he asked Yuvraj:
“Who sits on the bonnet of a RR?”. To this Yuvraj replied: “I do” with a smiley.
