On the other hand, the uncapped players have been further divided into three subcategories based on their experience and playing history. Players with 50 or more first-class matches are eligible to register themselves with a base price of $20,000.

Those with a minimum of 25 first-class matches or 18 T20 League franchise matches at any level can register themselves with a base price of $10,000. Players who do not meet these criteria can register themselves with a base price of $5,000.

Meanwhile, each team can have a total of 20 to 24 players in the squad including 6 foreign players.

LPL 2023 Auction Process Explained

In the auction process, the first 70 players will undergo a detailed auction, where each player will be individually presented for bidding. Following this initial phase, the auction will transition into an accelerated format.

In the accelerated auction, each franchise will have the opportunity to nominate a group of 15 to 20 players from the remaining pool. These selected players will then be available for bidding. This format allows for a more streamlined process, as multiple players can be auctioned off consecutively, reducing the time required for individual bidding.

By adopting this accelerated auction format, the Lanka Premier League aims to facilitate a more efficient and dynamic auction experience for the franchises and ensure a smooth progression of player selection.
