South Africa registered a comfortable win over Bangladesh in the 2nd Test match of played in Port Elizabeth’s St George Park Stadium to also register the series 2-0 to their name.
The two match Test series between the hosts South Africa cricket team and Bangladesh cricket team came to an end today, on the 5th day of the match to register a convincing win of 332 runs.
Bangladesh needed a win to atleast draw the series, as South Africa were already leading the series by 1-0 going into the match. This also marks the end of a long tour for Bangladesh of South Africa.
After winning the toss, South Africa skipper Dean Elgar opted to bat first. They managed to put 453 runs on the board with contributions from everyone, with atleast 4 players crossing the fifth runs mark, but couldn’t one bigger to 100.
In response to South Africa’s big total, the Bangla Tigers scored only half of that as they were all out for 217 runs with Mushfiqur Rahim being highest run scorer for them, who scored 51 runs.
South Africa declared their inning for 176 runs, setting up a target of 413 runs. However, it was a mountain to climb for Bangladesh, as they fell pray to Keshav Maharaj, who dismissed half of the Bangladesh team as he took 7 wickets in the inning as Bangladesh got all out for 80 runs, handing South Africa a massive 332 runs victory.
As a result of the match and series win, South Africa have maintained their 2nd position in the latest update ICC World Test Championship 2021-2023 Points Table, however, their percentage has increased 71.42 from 60.00.
Whereas, Bangladesh have now fallen behind West Indies. The Bangla Tigers sees their percentage go down to 16.66 from 25.00. However, they continue to be ahead of an off-form England.
On the other end, there is not any changes at all as Australia still leads and India and Pakistan is currently chasing the Aussies and the Proteas in the ICC World Test Championship 2021-2023 Points Table.
