Who is left-arm pacer Yash Dayal who has been picked into the Indian team squad for Bangladesh ODI series?

A string of Indian team squad (total 4) have been announced today for the Team India’s upcoming limited overs series against New Zealand and ODI and Test series against Bangladesh after that.

The Indian team is currently away in Australia playing in the T20 World Cup 2022 and the Rohit Sharma led Men in Blue are one of the favourites to win the tournament.

After India’s campaign in the T20 World Cup ends, the Men in Blue will be travelling to New Zealand soon after with first T20I match on the 18th November. After New Zealand tour, India also be visiting Bangladesh in December for 3 ODIs and 2 Test matches.

While there is much rotation for New Zealand tour, it is almost full strength team that will be visiting Bangladesh. However, among the star names, there is one surprising debutant in the form of Yash Dayal, who has been picked in the ODI squad for Bangladesh series.

Yash Dayal is a left-arm medium fast bowler who plays for the Uttar Pradesh team in the domestic cricket. Dayal, age 24, was born in UP’s Allahabad on the 13th December in 1997.

He made his senior debut for UP in the year 2018 in a Vijay Hazare Trophy match. He made his Ranji Trophy debut the same year as well. So far he has played 17 first-class matches and has taken 58 wickets. He also has 23 wickets in 13 One Day matches and 27 wickets in 29 T20 matches.

Yash was picked by one of the newcomers of the IPL Gujarat Titans during the IPL 2022 Mega Auction after fending off a bidding war with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and bought him for 3.20 crores. He featured in 9 matches in IPL 2022 and picked-up 11 wickets.
