“King of comebacks” – Twitter reacts to Dinesh Karthik named in India squad for SA T20I series

Legendary batsman Dinesh Karthik, who won everyone’s heart with his stellar performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, has once again got a chance in the Indian team after last playing a T20 International match for India 3 years ago against Australia in February 2019.


The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the squad of 18 players for the five-match T20I series against South Africa to be played from the month of June. After impressing in the IPL 2022, veteran batsman Dinesh Karthik has also got a place in the team.

The first match of this series will be played in Delhi on June 9. The second match will be held in Cuttack on June 12. The third, fourth and fifth matches will be played in Visakhapatnam, Rajkot and Bangalore on June 14, 17 and 19 respectively. Cricket South Africa (CSA) has also announced its team of 16 players for this series.


After withdrawing from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Dinesh Karthik was brought in by the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the mega auction before IPL 2022. Karthik has won Bangalore many matches with his stellar batting this season. So far this season, he has scored 287 runs in 14 innings at an average of 57.40 and strike rate of 191.33. Not only this, he has been not out 9 times in a total of 14 innings.

If we talk about Karthik’s performance in the IPL overall, then he has played a total of 227 matches and during this time, he has scored 4333 runs at a strike rate of 132.55. Not only this, 20 half-centuries are also included to his name. In the T20 format for India, Dinesh Karthik has played 32 matches and scored 399 runs at a strike rate of 143.53.

Dinesh Karthik has done an amazing job in this IPL edition. RCB will next face Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), which will be played on May 25 at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. Now it has to be seen whether Dinesh Karthik can get RCB their first IPL Cup with his best performance or not.
