After the sudden retirement of Aaron Finch from the one-day format in September 2022, all the fans were eyeing which player Cricket Australia (CA) would now hand over the captaincy responsibility. Discussion was clearly seen on many names regarding this, in which the biggest name was David Warner.

In fact, after the ball-tampering incident, David Warner was banned by Cricket Australia from captaining any team indefinitely. But after seeing his behavior for a long time, a removal was also being discussed and everyone expected that when Steve Smith can be appointed as the vice-captain in Test cricket, Warner should also get a bigger responsibility.

But Cricket Australia surprised everyone on the morning of 18 October with the appointment of fast bowler Pat Cummins, the current Test captain of the Australian team, as the next ODI captain of the team. For the last one year, Pat Cummins has been performing very well as the Australian Test captain and that is why he has been given this new responsibility.

Pat Cummins said in his statement after becoming the new captain of the Australia ODI cricket team, “I have had a lot of fun playing under the leadership of Finch so far and also got a chance to learn a lot from him. It will not be an easy task for me to fill his place but I will try my best to take the team to a different level.”

On the other hand, it was natural for his fans to get angry when David Warner was not given this responsibility. For which the reaction is being seen continuously on social media after this decision. Let us inform that Pat Cummins has been entrusted with this responsibility by Cricket Australia till the ODI World Cup to be held in India in the year 2023.
