Yastika Bhatia couldn’t contribute much and was dismissed for 2 runs. But then, skipper Mithali Raj took control of the inning with Smriti. However, after a good partnership between the two, Smriti Mandhana departed after scoring a brilliant 71 runs. Mithali carried forward the inning with Harmanpreet Kaur before the skipper was dismissed for 68 runs, and Harmanpreet missed out on her fifty and was dismissed for 48 runs.

While the defending the target, Indian team managed to send Lizelle Lee early on with a fantastic run out by Harmanpreet Kaur. But from there after, South Africa always had the control of the match. Laura Woolvaart played a brilliant inning of 80 runs and was well supported by Lara Goodall, Mignon du Preez and Marizanne Kapp.

But it was Mignon du Preez who took them over the line on the last ball of the match. However, the story could have been different if du Preez’s wicket was not called no ball. But unfortunately, that is the end for the Indian women’s team there in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022. Australia, South Africa, England and West Indies have reached the semi-finals.
