Fans were absolutely shocked to witness former Indian cricket team’s pace bowler Ishant Sharma watching the IPL 2022 match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders from the Virtual Guest Box.
Match number 6 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 was played yesterday night between Faf du Plessis’ Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Shreyas Iyer’s Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), on 30th of March, Wednesday.
It is the RCB who walked out victorious in a low scoring thriller, which was decided in the last over the match.
Batting first, Kolkata Knight Riders’ batsmen had a disastrous outing as they were bundled out for 128 runs. Even though the Bangalore franchise had to work hard for it, they finally managed to chase it down with former KKR skipper finishing off the match for RCB.
However, what was more shocking and surprising during the match was when fans witnessed former Indian cricketer and pace bowler Ishant Sharma watching the match from the Virtual Guest Box.
Virtual Guest Box is a concept in IPL, where a fan representing a sponsor can watch the match virtually from the comfort of their space. Ishant Sharma was captured in the Guest Box as a representative of RuPay.
Not just couple of days ago, Ishant was a key member of the Indian Test team, but due to being off-form and emergence of many top bowlers, Ishant has been released from the Indian squad in the recent Test series’.
Fans were quite surprised seeing the downfall of the pacer. He went unsold in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction as well. Here’s how Twitter reacted.
I’m sorry, Ishant Sharma. You deserve better.#IPL https://t.co/sLezKrZdQE

As we all are happy for the likes of Umesh Yadav, Ajinkya Rahane, Kuldeep Yadav who are having a redemption of form this IPL…I feel for Ishant Sharma missing out, did well in games he played for Delhi in last couple of season should have been in ground not on screen. #IPL2022 pic.twitter.com/vuDjv4XAOW
