The 1st session of Day 3’s play in the 1st Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test match of the 4 match series has come to an India has a comfortable over the Aussies with a 223 runs as India scored 400 runs in their 1st inning thanks brilliant batting from Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami.

It was Australia captain Pat Cummins who won the toss and opted to bat first. However, the Aussie batters struggled against the Indian bowlers as they were dismissed for 177 runs. Both Jadeja and Ashwin took 5 and 3 wickets respectively while Siraj and Shami got the other 2 wickets.

Batting in their 1st inning, Rohit Sharma gave India a good start before KL Rahul was dismissed at the end of Day 1’s play. Ashwin was promoted to bat at number 3 while Rohit completed his half-century.

On Day 2, Ashwin was dismissed in the 1st hour, but Rohit Sharma completed his century. However, the Indian middle-order struggled badly and kept on losing wickets in small intervals.

Jadeja and Axar Patel then formed a brilliant partnership before the former was dismissed for 70 runs. However, Patel continued batting on Day 3 and almost got to his century before he was dismissed for 84 runs, 16 short of century.

After this brilliant batting from Axar Patel, who came at number 9, Twitter praised the Indian all-rounder.
