Winning the toss, Pakistan captain Babar Azam asked Sri Lanka to bat first. Pakistan bowlers were on fire in the early stages of the match, getting 5 wickets inside the powerplay itself, however a crucial partnership from Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Wanindu Hasaranga and great inning from the former helped Sri Lanka post 170 runs.
Chasing the target, Pakistan once again got off to a slow start. They lost two wickets in two balls. And while Iftikhar and Mohammad Rizwan tried to build a partnership, they still didn’t play with a agressive approach and once Rizwan departed, wickets just kept on falling as Sri Lanka made it look like a dominant win from where they were at one stage of the match.
While the Pakistan fans were disappointed, there was joy all over faces of the Sri Lankan supporters.

A hat tip to Silverwood as well. Man deserves to smile after all that he went through in Ashes.

The better team won. Sri Lanka fought back from 58-5 to win #AsiaCup2022Final. And this is the same comeback they have shown over the tournament after they were down and out in the first match against Afghanistan. Played brave cricket and it paid off. Congrats to the Islanders.
