Which country will host the upcoming Asia Cup 2023? A final solution on the controversy is to be made on this huge day

According to Jay Shah, the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), a resolution to the deadlock surrounding the 2023 Asia Cup is imminent.

During the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) final on Sunday, May 28, in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, the board presidents of Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka will visit.

Shah confirmed that the heads of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) will convene in Ahmedabad during the IPL final to discuss the future plans for the tournament.

The Asia Cup is scheduled for September 2023, and Pakistan will serve as the host country. It is worth noting that India has expressed concerns about security and is reluctant to travel to Pakistan. Shah was quoted by Sportstar as saying, “The respective presidents of the Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka Cricket Boards will grace the Tata IPL 2023 final to be held on May 28 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. We will hold discussions with them for outlining the future course of action in relation to Asia Cup 2023.”

In May, Najam Sethi, the chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), revealed that they were awaiting an official response from the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) regarding their proposed “hybrid model” for hosting the Asia Cup. Sethi expressed the PCB’s willingness to play against India at a neutral venue, preferably in Dubai, where the revenue from gate receipts would be higher.

Sethi explained, “My understanding was that there were concerns about whether the neutral venue would be in Dubai or not. I was hesitant to host it in Sri Lanka because, as the host, the gate revenue should come to us. On the other hand, Dubai would ensure a full house for the India vs Pakistan match and also generate substantial gate receipts,” as stated in an interview with Sportstar last week.
