Meanwhile, one of the IPL franchise, Punjab Kings have announced that Mayank Agarwal will be stepping down as the captain of the team for the next and will be replaced by Indian national team opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan.
Shikhar Dhawan became a part of the Punjab Kings team during the IPL 2022 Mega Auction for a whopping sum of 8.25 crore. Punjab had to fend off competition from the likes of his former team Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals.
Dhawan played 14 matches in IPL 2022 season and scored 460 runs at a strike rate of 122. Dhawan is one of the most consistent player to have played in the competition as he has scored more than 400 runs for a consecutive of 7 season.
As thus, this is a massive news for the Punjab Kings fans who still hope to win their maiden IPL Trophy in 2023.
