The 56th game of the 16th edition between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals at the Eden Gardens turned out to be a record-breaking game, with two massive IPL records being broken on Thursday. Firstly, it was Yuzvendra Chahal, who went past Dwayne Bravo to become the leading wicket-taker in IPL history.

In the second inning, it was all Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was unstoppable and registered the fastest IPL half-century off just 13 balls. Batting first, KKR managed a below-par score of 149/8 in the first inning, with Venkatesh Iyer scoring 57 off 42. Chahal picked up 4/25 for RR.

Chasing the target, Jaiswal started the chase in grand fashion, scoring 26 runs off the first over from Nitish Rana. However, in the second over, Jos Buttler got run out after a miscommunication with Jaiswal and registered his third duck this season.

He responded late to the call for a single and then sacrificed his wicket as he was too far away. Andre Russell picked up the ball and hit the stumps in full. Buttler even raised his hand to say “no” to Jaiswal, but the left-hander was already half way there.

After getting run out, the English star looked back at the left-hander in disappointment and continued to dissent as he went back to the dressing room. It was deemed a Level 1 offence under the IPL’s code of conduct, Article 2.2, and Buttler has been fined 10 percent of his match fee.

In a statement released, it was quoted, “Rajasthan Royals’ Jos Buttler has been fined 10 Percent of his match-fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during Match 56 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on May 11.”

However, it didn’t affect the approach of Jaiswal, and he went on to smash an unbeaten 98 off 47, and skipper Sanju Samson remained unbeaten on 48 off 29. RR chased down the target in just 13.1 overs and made 151/1 to collect two important points on the board.
