Big blow for Australia! Star Aussie cricketer announces retirement from International cricket

Australia Cricket Team’s veteran opener Aaron Finch has today announced his retirement from T20 format of the game. Under his captaincy, Australia won the T20 World Cup title last year and now Finch has said goodbye to this format. Earlier in September 2022, he retired from ODIs also.

Aaron Finch has played 103 T20I matches for Australia and also captained in 76 matches during this period. He scored the most runs for Australia in T20 Internationals. Finch scored 3120 runs at an average of 34.28 and a strike rate of 142.5. In 2018 against Zimbabwe, he played his career best innings of 172 runs. This is also the record for the highest individual score in this format.

Aaron Finch has given a big response regarding his retirement. He said that he will not be able to play the next T20 World Cup and that is why it is better to retire now. Finch said, “I have realized that I will not be able to play in the T20 World Cup to be held in 2024. For this reason, now is the right time to retire so that the team gets time to plan accordingly.”

He added “I would like to thank my family, especially my wife, my teammates, Cricket Victoria, Cricket Australia and the Australian Cricket Association for their support. Also thanks to the fans who showered me with so much love throughout my international career. I will always remember winning the T20 World Cup in 2021 and the ODI World Cup in 2015.”

Let us tell you that Aaron Finch last played for Australia in the T20 World Cup 2022 against Ireland. He was ruled out against Afghanistan due to injury.
