“He is lazy with the running” – Well-known critic slams Prithvi Shaw for his fitness after he was dropped by Delhi Capitals for their IPL 2023 match vs SRH

Prithvi Shaw seems to be experiencing a rough patch in his career. He managed to score only 47 runs in six matches for Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2023. To make things worse, he was left out of the list of even the substitute players during the team’s triumph against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Monday.

Simon Doull, a former New Zealand cricketer, has expressed his disapproval of Shaw’s performance. Doull has raised concerns about his fitness and stated that the young player’s inability to adapt his gameplay has cost him dearly.

According to Doull’s comments on Cricbuzz, “You can’t continue down the same road. If things aren’t working you have to change it up and he has to understand that where he is at in his game. It’s just not good enough,” said the IPL 2023 commentator.

“There was an incident with the run-out situation in Bangalore with David Warner. He sat on the backside of the bench the whole time when Delhi were fielding and did nothing and later when he came out he was lazy with the running. These little things in the game that come back to haunt you at times. He has had a poor season. I don’t think he is overly fit. I don’t think he has really adjusted his game as such and he has paid the price,” he further added.

Despite Washington Sundar’s impressive all-round performance, Sunrisers Hyderabad failed to chase down the below-average total and lost to Delhi Capitals by seven runs.

This marked their third consecutive loss in the IPL. During the first half of the game, off-spin all-rounder Sundar (4-0-28-3) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (4-0-11-2) demonstrated the batting weaknesses of Delhi Capitals, restricting them to a score of 144/9 after Sunrisers Hyderabad’s captain, David Warner, chose to bat.

However, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s downfall can be attributed to their inexplicable batting approach, as they failed to look for opportunities to dominate the game. Consequently, they were restricted to a total of 137/6, resulting in their defeat.
