Former Indian cricket team captain Virender Sehwag has come out in the support of the Delhi Capitals off-spin bowler Ravichandran Ashwin after he had a heated exchange with Eoin Morgan during the IPL 2021 match between DC and the Kolkata Knight Riders yesterday at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
The heart of the matter was an incident that happened during the innings of the Delhi Capitals team. During the penultimate over of the innings bowled by Venkatesh Iyer, Rishabh Pant and Ravichandran Ashwin took a single. After the fielder threw the ball, it hit Pant and rolled away, allowing the two DC batters to take another run. Soon, Morgan confronted Ashwin, and in the last over, Tim Southee had an exchange with Ashwin after picking up his wicket.
Post that incident, former captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders team Dinesh Karthik said that Morgan did not appreciate what Ashwin and Pant did during the Delhi Capitals. Australian spin legend Shane Warne then slammed R Ashwin, saying it was disgraceful and must never happen again.
Virender Sehwag recollects 2019 Cricket World Cup Final to send a message to Eoin Morgan
Now Virender Sehwag has reacted to that incident. He remembered how the ball hit Ben Stokes during the 2019 Cricket World Cup Final and traveled to the boundary line. Eventually, that boundary helped England tie the game. Eoin Morgan was the captain of England in that match. Here’s what Sehwag tweeted:
“On July 14th , 2019 when it ricocheted of Ben Stokes bat in the final over, Mr Morgan sat on a Dharna outside Lord’s and refused to hold the World cup trophy and New Zealand won. Haina ? Bade aaye, ‘doesn’t appreciate’ waale.”
