Samson made his International debut for India in the T20I format back in the year 2015 against Zimbabwe. However, he couldn’t deliver as much as he did for his IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals. Samson was mainly utilised as a backup players and was missing from the Indian team for a long time as well.

He made his ODI debut last year, in 2021 only. But, even though Samson has not featured a lot for the Indian team, he has a massive fan following.

While speaking to Sony Sports during their broadcast for the 3rd ODI between India and Zimbabwe, Samson talked major things that has helped rediscover his career and also talked about the fan following.

When he asked about his fan following, Samson said he is even surprised to have such big fan following. “I feel surprised that despite playing very little for India, I get good support. I feel there,” Samson said.

He also talked about how IPL and captaincy helped him improve his game. He said that he used to think about his batting only at first, but after becoming the captain of Rajasthan Royals, he had a different mindset and started thinking about others as well apart from his game.

Samson played an important and match winning inning for Team India in the 2nd ODI vs Zimbabwe. Chasing a target of 162 runs, India kept on losing wickets in regular intervals but Samson played an inning of 43 runs from 39 balls to help India win the match by 5 wickets.
