“We’ll have to see one more inning” – Sanjay Manjrekar not happy with “Back in Form” statement for Virat Kohli

Royal Challenger Bangalore (RCB)’s aggressive batsman Virat Kohli played an innings of 73 runs from 54 balls against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the league phase to help his team win the crucial match. However, despite this performance, former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar believes that Virat Kohli is not back in form yet.


Sanjay Manjrekar wants Kohli to bat like he did against Gujarat Titans when take on the field against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Eliminator match on May 25th.

Virat played a fine innings against Gujarat after not performing well in the opening matches of IPL 2022. Let us tell you that this season, Virat has been dismissed for golden duck thrice. However, despite his performance, RCB has qualified for the playoffs.


Speaking to ESPNcricinfo on 24th May, Sanjay Manjrekar said that Virat Kohli has got the innings he desperately needed but he doesn’t think he is back in his form yet. He said that it can’t be judged from a player’s one match performance whether he is back in form yet or not.

“Virat Kohli has got that one inning but I don’t believe a player is back in form after just one inning. We’ll have to see one more inning in a pressure game then we’ll know whether or not Kohli is back in form,” said Manjrekar.

He added that Virat Kohli will have to play another great innings in the pressure match that is the Eliminator against the Lucknow Super Giants. He added that the world has seen Virat lead his team to victory number of times with his performance. He also added that Virat is purely back in form and do well for Team India in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022.


He further said that fans also understand cricket very well and it’s not that he wasn’t scoring runs earlier. He said that Kohli was consistently scoring 30-40 runs but everyone expects from a batter of the quality of his.

Let us update you that, Royal Challengers Bangalore qualified for the playoffs after Mumbai Indians (MI) beat Delhi Capitals (DC) by 5 wickets in the league match. Their next match is against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on 25 May, which is a do-or-die match, as the losing team will eliminated from the race to the IPL 2022 Final.
