Royal Challengers Bangalore sign Kedar Jadhav to fix struggling middle-order, David Willey ruled out of IPL 2023

On Monday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that Royal Challengers Bangalore has signed Kedar Jadhav to replace the injured David Willey for the remaining matches of the current Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season.

Jadhav, the 38-year-old middle-order batsman, was signed for INR 1 Crore. In his previous IPL matches/ campaign, Jadhav has not been able to make a significant impact, with only 1196 runs scored at a strike rate of 123.17.

He has previously played for Delhi Capitals, Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chennai Super Kings, and Sunrisers Hyderabad, appearing in 17 games for RCB in 2016 and 2017, with his most successful year being 2017.

Currently, RCB is placed sixth on the points table with 4 wins out of 8 games. Although Jadhav is replacing a bowling all-rounder, he may play a crucial role in the struggling middle order. Jadhav also possesses the additional skills of offspin bowling and wicketkeeping, which he has demonstrated in international cricket and previous IPL seasons.
