PCB confirms the venue and date for the first-ever Pakistan Junior League

Inaugural Pakistan Junior League will be held at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore between 1-15 October

This will be one of the first T20 leagues of its kind that will give a platform to U19 stars. They will interact with overseas U19 players in order to improve their skills. Overseas U19 stars will be accompanied by their guardians at the cost of the franchise, as per the rules of the league. The Pakistan Junior League plan perfectly fits with the recently launched PCB Pathway Cricket Programme.

On Friday, the PCB released further details regarding the T20 tournament. It will feature six city-based teams that will play a total of 19 matches. Each team can pick an iconic player for their team as a mentor or coach. Furthermore, as the next step, PCB is planning to add the auction model to it after Eid Al-Fitr for broadcasting rights. Interestingly, broadcasting rights will be available for everyone to grab because the PCB is looking to work closely with all stakeholders.

The cricket board and partners (that will include BRB Group and Engro Corporation) have agreed to offer PKR 30,000 each to the 100 best U19 players, a scholarship at the best educational institutions, free cricket related equipment and a coaching at high performance center at the National High Performance centre that has the best and high-profile international coaching staff.

The PCB shared a video featuring chairman Ramiz Raza discussing the whole plan. He said that they are delighted and feeling motivated that they are about to start the Pakistan Junior League. Ramiz also spoke on the response received from the stakeholders in order to partner with the PCB on this proposal. That will surely provide a big boost to Pakistan cricket, both financially and emotionally.

Pointing out the success of the recently concluded PSL 2022, he said that after the success, many sponsors and commercial players have shown interest in grabbing the rights for the Pakistan Junior League. Ramiz also felt confident about the future of Pakistan cricket. He said that this will surely benefit cricket drastically.
