Gujarat Titans won the toss and asked Sunrisers Hyderabad to bat first. Fifties from Abhishek Sharma and Aiden Markram inspired the Hyderabad-based franchise to a total of 195 runs in 20 overs. Shashank Singh wowed everyone with a magnificent six-ball 25.

In reply, GT got off to a great start, thanks to a half-century from their wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha. Umran Malik brought SRH back into the contest with a five-wicket haul. He conceded only 25 runs in his four overs and picked up the wickets of Hardik Pandya, Shubman Gill, Saha, Abhinav Manohar and David Miller.

The match went down to the last over, with 22 runs needed for a win. Marco Jansen bowled the last over. He had a bad day in the office which got even worse as he gave away 25 runs off six balls as GT won by five wickets. Commenting on Jansen after the match, Kane Williamson said:

“He is a strong competitor. The focus is about the cricket that we want to play. It was a good performance but sometimes, you get beaten by the better side or the team that wins the fine moments.”
