“I was just like you guys” – MS Dhoni reveals who was his idol as a growing-up cricketer

No matter how great someone is in cricket, but in the beginning every cricketer has a role model. While former India captain MS Dhoni is a fan favourite, however, he is yet to reveal the name of his idol. But finally, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (MS Dhoni) has also revealed the name of his idol.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni (MS Dhoni) is one of the most talented cricketer ever to have played the game, especially for the Indian team. He was quite so important for the Indian team during his playing and those who have witnessed him play, does truly knows what MS Dhoni is capable of.

But even after a hugely long career, MS Dhoni had till date not revealed the name of his idol. But finally, the former India skipper had his say.

Speaking at the inauguration of CSK’s Global School in Bengaluru, Dhoni said that “As a cricketing role model, it is always Sachin Tendulkar. I was just like you guys, I used to watch Sachin Tendulkar play and always thought I wanted to play like him. Later I realized that I cannot play like him but at heart I always wanted to play like him.”

Knowing the answer to Dhoni’s question, every spectator present there applauded. The audience liked Mahi’s talk. Dhoni was also asked about his favorite sports in school. On this, he said that does cricket qualify as a sport in school? Crowd laughed at this.

MS Dhoni is the only Indian captain under whose captaincy the Indian team has won the T20 World Cup, Champions Trophy and ODI World Cup. The Indian team won all the three ICC events in white ball cricket under the captaincy of Dhoni. Team India won the T20 World Cup in 2007 and the ODI World Cup in 2011. Apart from this, the Champions Trophy was won by India in 2013.
