The big day has arrived, the all of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises are set to announce the list of players who have been retained ahead of next month’s IPL 2023 Player Auction.
Meanwhile, there has been a lot happening so far before that already. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have set the IPL trade window alive, bagging in 3 top players Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Shardul Thakur and Lockie Ferguson.
Meanwhile, they have also received a huge setback as prime pace bowler Pat Cummins has decided to opt out of the T20 extravaganza.
Cummins today confirmed through his official Twitter handle that he is skipping the IPL 2023 due to heavy workload with the Australian team as hid priority is to play for his country as he is the captain of the team as well. Australia will be playing a much awaited Ashes series against England too.
Pat made his IPL debut with the Kolkata Knight Riders in the year 2014. After two years with them, he went missing and made a return for a season in 2017 with Delhi Daredevils.
KKR once again brought him back to their fold in the year 2020 for a huge sum. He has so far played 42 matches in the IPL since his debut and has taken 45 wickets.
I’ve made the difficult decision to miss next years IPL. The international schedule is packed with Tests and ODI’s for the next 12 months, so will take some rest ahead of an Ashes series and World Cup. pic.twitter.com/Iu0dF73zOW

Nobody wants to play IPL as they have seen it doesn’t add anything to the cricketing skills. These excuses are a big slap to 🇮🇳 Premier league.
