The year 2022 has been a quite the hectic one for the cricket fans and the players as well. This year, teams have played more matches than usual as the teams are looking to recover their loss ground.
There has been no lack of cricket action for the fans of the game that we all love. Every team are currently going through the hectic schedule which has a massive wave among the teams as they are having to constantly rotate the squad for each and every series.
And no different is the Indian cricket team, who are just like others are going through that hectic schedule which has ultimately led to India fielding 6 different captains in 2022.
The year 2022 started for India with series defeat against South Africa in both the Test and ODIs. They next played the West Indies in 3 match ODI and as many T20Is which India won comfortably. After West Indies followed Sri Lanka, who played 3 ODIs and 2 Tests against India which both the latter won.
After the Sri Lanka series, all the Indian players and some big name overseas players featured in the IPL 2022 for 2 months till May end. India then next faced off South Africa in a 5 match T20I series that ended in level 2-2.
Right after that, the Men in Blue departed for the tour of UK where India played 2 T20Is against Ireland and then England. As we mention all the series, almost all the series’ saw a rotated squad.
After finishing the UK tour, the Men in Blue are now on the tour of the Caribbean as they are playing West Indies in a 3 match ODI and 5 match T20I series. Now, let’s have a look at Team India remaining series leading to the end of the year.
India vs Zimbabwe – August
After the West Indies series concludes on the 7th of August, Team India will travel to Zimbabwe to play 3 match ODI series that commences on the 18th August and concludes on 22nd.
Asia Cup 2022 – August
Right after the Zimbabwe series, the Men in Blue will be taking part in the Asia Cup 2022. The fixtures for the tournament have not been announced yet but the competition will run from August end to September mid.
Series against Australia and South Africa
Right after the Asia Cup, the Indian will host the Australian team and the South African team prior to the T20 World Cup as confirmed by the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly. The itinerary for the series’ have not been announced yet.
T20 World Cup – October
After last year’s failure to reach the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup, Team India will go at it again in October 2022. The T20 World Cup commences on the 16th of October however the Indian team will be in action from the Super 12 round only that will begin from the 22nd October with India playing their first match on 23rd October against Pakistan. They will play their last Super 12 round match on 6th November with the semi-finals on 9th and 10th November and the final on 13th of November.
India vs New Zealand – November
Just like last year, the Men in Blue will play the New Zealand team in a limited overs series after the T20 World Cup, however this time India will be visiting New Zealand. 3 T20Is and as many ODIs will be played as part of the series.
India vs Bangladesh – December
If the reports are to be believed, the Indian team will end their year with a tour of Bangladesh where they will play 2 Test matches and 3 ODIs, however there is no confirmation on that yet.
