“If he is not in the team, I will play. Otherwise I won’t play”- Mehidy Hasan lashes out at BPL team after being sacked as captain

Bangladesh cricket team’s rising star Mehidy Hasan Miraz has lashed out at the Chief Executive Officer of the Bangladesh Premier League franchise named Chattogram Challengers. The reason behind it is the captaincy of the team. Just three hours before the match of Chattogram, Hasan came to know that he is no longer the captain.

The Khulna-born all-rounder led the Chattogram Challengers in the initial phases of the Bangladesh Premier League 2022 season. However, just three hours before their match against the Sylhet Sunrisers, Mehidy lost his captaincy. According to the all-rounder, the team’s CEO Yasir Alam.

ESPNCricinfo reported that Mehidy Hasan was set to leave the Chattogram Challengers squad. He also informed the Bangladesh Cricket Board head Nizamuddin Chowdhury about his decision. Just minutes before his departure, he was requested to return to hotel room and he obliged.

Yasir Alam told Mehidy that the decision to remove him as the captain was made by coach Paul Nixon. However, Mehidy found out that it was not the case. He was utterly disappointed with Alam’s attempt to spread lies. He even said that he no longer had the mentality to play for the Chattogram Challengers team.

This is very insulting for a player: Mehidy Hasan Miraz disappointed after captaincy problems

Here’s what Mehidy Hasan Miraz had to say about the captaincy issue:

“Three hours before our match, they informed me I was no longer the captain. I told them that they could have informed me earlier. This is very insulting for a player.”

He concluded by saying that he has no intention of playing for Chattogram Challengers if Yasir Alam is around as the CEO of the franchise.

“If Yasir bhai is not in the franchise, I will play. Otherwise I won’t play. As clear as that,” Hasan concluded.

It will be interesting to see what happens next in this direction.
