The match number 17 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 is being played at the Chepauk cricket stadium between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Rajasthan Royals (RR).
The coin has been flipped and it is the home team captain MS Dhoni, playing his 200th match as the Chennai Super Kings player, who has won the toss and has opted to bowl first.
CSK have brought in 2 changes for the match as Mitchell Santner and Pretorius has been replaced by Mahesh Theekshana and Moeen Ali.
As for the Rajasthan Royals, the men in pink has also brought in a couple of changes, however the notable one is the absence of pacer Trent Boult.
Trent Boult is one of the key players of the Rajasthan Royals setup and if the Rajasthan Royals wants to win the tournament, Boult will have to play in almost all the matches of the tournament.
Now the question is why is Trent Boult not playing in this match. As Rajasthan captain Sanju Samson said during the toss, Boult has a small niggle and the team doesn’t want to risk losing him keeping in mind the long term run.
