The news from the centre for the match number 13 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 is that Gujarat Titans, the home team have won the toss and have opted to bat first against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
However, the more surprising news from the toss is that Gujarat Titans’ regular captain Hardik Pandya was not the player who came out for toss but it was actually vice-captain Rashid Khan.
Rashid Khan is the Gujarat Titans’ vice-captain and in absence of Hardik Pandya, he will be leading the team today. However, the bigger question is why is Hardik Pandya not playing the match today.
Well according to Rashid Khan during the toss, Hardik Pandya is unwell and won’t be able to take part in the match. Khan didn’t mention about any particular injury but only added that Pandya is unwell and the team management don’t want to take any risk going into the match keeping in mind the other matches to come.
Gujarat Titans is currently undefeated in the IPL 2023 having won their first two matches against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Delhi Capitals.
