Harbhajan Singh is known for being fearless while voicing out his opinions. After the Mumbai Indians and RCB game at Dubai in IPL 2021, too, Bhajji had a strong statement. In this article, we take a look at the reason why Harbhajan Singh takes a dig at the Indian selectors after Yuzvendra Chahal did well against Mumbai Indians.
Yuzvendra Chahal doing well in UAE
One of the major surprises, when India’s squad for the T20 World Cup was announced, was that Yuzvendra Chahal had not made it. Yuzi is India’s highest T20I wicket-taker and is highly experienced in the format. However, surprisingly, he did not get selected.
Since then, though, Chahal has been in fine form. Especially against Mumbai Indians, the leg-spinner was at his best. In four overs, he collected three wickets and gave away just eleven runs. Despite bowling to left-handers like Ishan Kishan, Quinton de Kock and Krunal Pandya, it was Yuzi who dominated the proceedings.
Harbhajan Singh takes a dig at the selectors
The selectors reasoned out that Chahal was not a fast leg-spinner and was therefore not selected. Harbhajan Singh made a reference to this comment and took a dig at them. He tweeted, “Did Chahal bowl fast or slow today guys ??? 4–0-11-3 what a spell champion”
Rahul Chahar was the beneficiary of Yuzi’s exclusion. The youngster has been in good form and also bowls fast and hence, earned a place in the Indian T20 WC team. However, against RCB, although he was amongst wickets, Chahar rather had an average outing.
India can still change its squad for the World Cup. A few members of the team are struggling for form, and they could face the axe. However, this looks to be very unlikely to happen.
