Virat will not captain RCB from IPL 2022

Virat Kohli has been the captain of RCB since 2013. Although he has been part of some memorable games, Virat has not been able to lead the team to an IPL championship win. The Indian skipper is the highest run-getter in IPL history, but his form has been underwhelming in the last few seasons. In order to manage his workload, Virat has decided to completely give up captaincy in the T20 format. As per him, this would help him concentrate more on his batting skills. In line with this, he had announced that he would no longer captain RCB from 2022.

Steyn predicts the team that Virat Kohli will play for after RCB

Dale Steyn has given his verdict on which team Virat Kohli could play for after RCB. Although Virat clearly specified that he would play for RCB till he would retire, this could change as the season’s progress. Steyn also took a few examples to back his prediction. The pacer suggested that Delhi Capitals could buy Virat after he leaves RCB.

Speaking on ESPNcricinfo, the former South African pacer said, “It doesn’t matter how good a player you are, you could see yourself walking. We’ve seen Chris Gayle leave the team. We have seen David Beckham leave Manchester United after playing for an entire lifespan for them. You never really know; you have these famous people playing for their clubs for a long time, and who knows. Virat is originally from Delhi, and for all we know, they (Delhi Capitals) could say ‘come finish with us.”

Incidentally, Delhi had missed choosing Virat in the U19 draft back in IPL 2008. Being a home-grown boy, it would be an obvious choice for Virat if he was to leave RCB.
