“I’m not worried at all” – BCCI President Sourav Ganguly opens up on Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s struggles in IPL 2022 before T20WC

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has reacted on the current form of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Ganguly said that he is confident that both the players will make a great comeback soon as both of them are key players and are the backbone of the Indian team.

After a disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup last year, once again India is set to play the T20 World Cup in Australia later this year. Fans are placing a lot of expectations from Team India for this tournament and they believe that this team will perform well in this tournament. But, the team’s two of the most important players, Kohli and Rohit have not been able to perform well in the ongoing IPL 2022.

In a conversation with Mid-Day, Ganguly said that he is not at all worried about Virat and Rohit’s form. He added that they are both very good and great player. He continued that the T20 World Cup is still far away and he is sure of both the players regaining their lost form long before the tournament. Let us tell you that before the T20 World Cup, Team India has to play a series of 5 T20I matches in India against South Africa.

“I’m not worried at all about the form of Rohit or Virat. They are too good…real big players. The World Cup is far away and I am quite confident that they will be in top shape much before the tournament,” said the BCCI President.

Talking about the statistics of both the players in IPL 2022, Kohli has scored 236 runs in 13 matches this season at an average of 19.67 with a strike rate of 113.46. He has only one half-century to his name and has got out on golden duck three times this season. This is the first time since IPL 2008 that Virat Kohli has averaged less than 20 in IPL.

On the other hand, Rohit Sharma has scored 218 runs in 12 matches at an average of 18.17 and strike rate of 125.29. The Indian all-format captain has not been able to score a single half-century this season. The five-time winning captain could not even take Mumbai Indians to the playoffs this time and his team became the first team to be knocked out of the playoff race this season.
