Umran Malik is the latest sensation to emerge out of the Indian Premier League. The youngster from Jammu and Kashmir is already making waves with his ability to bowl fast-paced deliveries consistently. In this article, we take a look at the Twitter reactions as SRH pacer Umran Malik consistently clocks over 150kph in IPL 2021.
Umran Malik consistently bowling over 150kph
The 21-year-old from Jammu and Kashmir had very little experience in the domestic circuit before signing up as one of the net bowlers for Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, T Natarajan contracted COVID-19 at the start of the UAE leg and hence, SRH signed Umran Malik as the short-term COVID-19 replacement for Nattu.
In the game against KKR, the right-arm pacer made his IPL debut. He was impressive as he clocked a speed of over 150kph within his first few deliveries. With this, he came the Indian to have bowled the fastest delivery of this season. While he showed that he has got pace in that game, against RCB, the J&K cricketer went even further by bowling balls close to 152kph and 153kph. It has been a while since IPL has been witness to such a phenomenon. More so, coming from an Indian, the fans were left amazed.
Twitter erupts to the brilliance on display
Twitter was a happy place as soon as the youngster started displaying his potential. Although in recent years, India has found good pace bowlers, a few have had to resort to variations in order to survive in the game. Hence, at least in the next few years, India could be in need of an out-and-out pace bowler. The talented player from J&K could be a big prospect. He will also be targeted by a few teams in IPL 2022. Twitter covered most of these topics along with a few more:
Something about pace that has you on the edge of your seat. Umran Malik isn’t just a tearaway. He looks a proper bowler and we need to look after him.@IrfanPathan, any more there in Jammu and Kashmir?
