The Pakistan cricket team’s star pacer Shaheen Afridi had a tough outing with the ball in the T20 Vitality Blast match against Worcestershire. Worcestershire set a massive target of 226/5 against Nottinghamshire on Friday.
During his four-over spell, Afridi conceded 45 runs, resulting in an economy rate of 11.25. He managed to take only one wicket, dismissing Kashif Ali, who was caught by Steven Mullaney after scoring just 11 runs.
Nottinghamshire’s chase relied heavily on Alex Hales, who played a determined innings of 71 runs. However, Hales lacked significant support from his teammates, and he was eventually dismissed in the 14th over, with Nottinghamshire still needing 101 runs to win from the remaining six overs.
Despite struggling with his bowling, Afridi brought excitement back into the game during Nottinghamshire’s innings. In the 16th over, bowled by New Zealand international Michael Bracewell, Afridi displayed his power-hitting skills by smashing four sixes in that over.
Afridi made a significant impact with the bat, playing a short but impactful cameo, scoring 29 runs off just 11 balls. His innings included four sixes and a four.

Unfortunately, his dismissal, caused by Pat Brown, marked the turning point for Nottinghamshire. After Afridi’s departure, their hopes dwindled, and they were eventually bowled out for 170, falling short of Worcestershire’s imposing total.
After this match, Shaheen Afridi’s Nottinghamshire finds themselves in 7th position in the North Group Points Table of the Vitality T20 Blast in England. Nottingham currently have 4 points to their name in their 5 matches so far, out of which they have won only 2 matches. They have a negative Net Run Rate of -0.426. They will next play against the 2nd placed Warwickshire.
