The 2022 edition of the Asia Cup began with a grand style as the Afghanistan cricket team’s pace bowlers completely dismantle the Sri Lankan batting order to win the match by 8 wickets while chasing a target of 106 runs in the opening match.
The day 2 will see the biggest on-field rivals in cricket history, India take on Pakistan tonight. Meanwhile, Afghanistan will be back in action on 30th of August when they will take on the Bangladesh team in their 2nd match of the tournament.
Talking of Bangladesh, they are currently going through a really hard patch now after having lost the series against Zimbabwe earlier. Shakib Al Hasan would look to change the fortunes of the team.
Today in this article, we take a look at 5 key Bangladesh players to watch out for in the Asia Cup 2022.
Shakib Al Hasan
Starting-off, Bangladesh’s skipper Shakib Al Hasan will have a huge role to play in the team’s success in the tournament. He was not part of the Bangladesh squad that lost to Zimbabwe. He is back in the team, this time as the captain of the team. The experienced all-rounder would like to use his all the experiences to help his team to success gate.
Mahmudullah
Bangladesh have gone to the Asia Cup with a loads of all-rounders and one of whom is Mahmudullah. The right-hand batting all-rounder has a good number of experience behind him and has had a good career for Bangladesh. Having played 119 T20I matches, Mahmudullah has scored 2069 runs and has taken 38 wickets. His contribution in the middle-order will be very important.
Mushfiqur Rahim
Wicketkeeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim is one of those couple of experienced players who have travelled with the team to UAE. Rahim has been a part of the Bangladesh team since making his debut in the 2005 in a Test match against England. He has represented Bangladesh in over 400 matches across formats and has played 100 T20Is in which he has scored 1495 runs. Though he is not a striker of the ball, he brings the stability in the team.
Mustafizur Rahman
Experienced left-arm pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman will be leading the Bangladesh team’s bowling attack in the tournament. He has a major role to play in the bowling line-up which doesn’t look so strong for Bangladesh. But, Mustafizur has that quality that is needed to take wickets and that will be helpful. He has 91 wickets to his name in 69 T20I matches.
Taskin Ahmed
While I mentioned a weak bowling line-up for Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed is the other reliable bowling option alongside Mustafizur Rahman and that’s it. Taskin had a great start to his career but then suddenly fell off. He has played in series against West Indies and Zimbabwe this year, but has failed to take any wickets though.
